If everything works perfectly, the test is not a success. With that in mind our live stream test of this week's Cabo race was a success! Due to the laptop in use we were not able to stream to both YouTube and Facebook at the same time. We did stream to FB, and as a shakedown, experienced some problems, mainly with sound issues. A recording of the FB feed is here.

It was a fun time, with music piped onto the lake and colorful commentary by Janet Ruder and By Baldridge. One of the many By-isms:

"The thing about this race is it's like playing roulette - you have to roll the dice..."

Maybe By is related to Yogi Berra.

This Saturday's GBCA rum race is sponsored by JBoats Southwest.  Party catered by Marios, and special giveaways from JBoats. And Fleet 6 will award a bottle of rum to the first J/22 to finish (maybe more if we have enough participation).  So put on your old JFest t-shirt and we'll see you Saturday!

First off, the FWBC circuit regatta this weekend. But if you aren't already on your way there....

Cabo Series.  How soon they forget.  It's only been 5 weeks since the last Cabo races, but the SIs have not been amended. There was some confusion as to which way to round the leeward mark. There is a link to the SIs on the home page.  Results here.

Video. More video coverage from White Pelican Productions. See the latest Cabo video here.  (Thankfully the first leeward mark rounding was edited out!) Check Stuart's other videos by selecting Photo/Video from the menu.

It was a beautiful weekend at Austin Yacht Club for J22 SW District Circuit #3. Good weather, good wind, great hospitality, great food and drink, and awesome racing!  Fifteen boats were in attendance, four from Fleet 6.  It was close racing going into the last race, only 3 points separated the top 4 finishers. Doug Weakly, from Corpus Christy, secured the narrow victory, Nataleigh Perez, from Houston, was a close 2nd, Tom Meeh, Seabrook, won the tiebreaker for 3rd, Terry Schertz, Austin, took 4th, and Dov Kivlovitz, Seabrook, claimed 5th.  Congratulations Doug and crew! And thanks to all who joined the fun at AYC!

Don’t miss SW Circuit #4 at Fort Worth Boat Club, June 2-3!

A respected member of our fleet, Julie Goetschius, SV Crayola #877, passed away Sunday, May 6.  Like many of us, Julie started racing on another 22 on Wednesday nights, Tom Sutton's.  She did foredeck and Jerry Smith did middle.  Around 1991, she decided she wanted her own J22 and went into a partnership with Cathy Harry and bought hull #877.  Then you couldn't stop her, she traveled with her boat as far as Holland, Netherland to do the J22 World's as well and many other J22 World's. She did three Rolex Regatta's, two in Annapolis and one at HYC.  Her sailing earned her the first Woman Club Championship at HYC and a Final for the Adam's Cup four times! At HYC's Windward Down Sailing Camp, she always taught the advanced campers on her boat.  She loved sailing, teaching sailing, and racing and took every opportunity she could to get new people into the sport.  .Julie was a driving force in keeping our J22 Fleet 6 going and was Fleet Captain for many years. She will be missed.

Fleet 6 will make a donation to Special Olympics Texas in Julie's honor.

    Visitation will be Friday, May 11, 9am - 11am
    Service to follow at 11:00am
